Straight up I have missed the cut this week. It was a particularly tough one to take as I played really well for two days. I have made one putt outside 10 foot in two weeks up here, just not good enough.
I came up here having made some significant changes to my long game only a week before and wondering what my long game would serve up. It served up more than enough quality to get the job done both weeks. In saying that an errant 3 iron into the 11th hole par 3 cost me a triple bogie. Despite that I putted without a doubt the worst of my career and I head home to Brissy wondering how I can turn that around.
Putting poorly creates so much pressure on your game, particularly your chipping game. I have so many positives to take out of these two weeks but also some real things to work on. I have played these courses before and without doubt I am hitting the ball stronger than ever and felt like both courses played considerably shorter for me than three years ago. The rough too, didn't prove as difficult for me either which shows good signs that my compression on the ball is improving.
So back home and back to the drawing board with my putting and I feel as though a significant technical change may be needed. Watch this space.
