Not long now until I head north to Japan to kick off the 2014 season. I am really looking forward to the year ahead in Japan and I believe it is going to be my best year yet!!
There have been some very significant changes to "Team Guyatt" this year, exciting changes!!
Murray Lott steps into the big, literally big, shoes of Kevin Healey as my head coach. A massive thanks to Kev at this point is appropriate as he seriously developed my game over the past two years, thanks Kev.
Murray has hit the ground running and has me revamping my training and turning it on its head! Where I spent hrs building a golf swing with Kev I am now doubling that effort with Murray on the short game alone. I think I have already hit more chips/pitches/bunker shots and putts than I did all year last year!! One of the advantages if changing coaches is that you get new ideas and enthusiasm from your new coach that gets you excited and enthused too!! He has added structure and importantly some great stat recording to ensure we practice the "right things". All in all it has been a really positive change. I am also having the chance to meet and listen to a brilliant golfing mind of coach Mac O'Grady in a weeks time thanks to Murray which I am seriously looking forward to!!
On the equipment front there have been some changes too. I am using the SLDR driver from Taylormade and despite not thinking it would do "wonders" for me it has. I am hitting it longer than ever before despite nearly hitting that magical 40 years of age!! It is a seriously good driver and could be a real game changer for me this year! I have also switched to the Titleist ball, shoe and glove as a new deal too. Both changes were money orientated but I have thoroughly enjoyed the new product!!
Callaway are still my major provider which I love as I think I have Callaway in my blood! It's exciting to see the quality of their new products this year and the Apex Pro tour iron has to be one of the best iron heads produced by the company for years. I have done some testing with them and they look very exciting and I can't wait for mine to arrive ahead of Japan!!!
I will be home and working hard on my game at Indooroopilly over the next few weeks before fine tuning and heading to Japan on Masters Sunday!! Go the Aussies at Augusta!!
I am preparing well and expect great results this year and am looking forward to sharing the journey with all of you!! Remember that life is short and unpredictable, live hard then go harder, give your all, love those around you and invest into the right things! Smile and enjoy the journey God has you on!!!
On a final note Go the Lions, Broncos and Roar!!!
