My week was one I will head home with some mixed feelings about. There were loads of positives, more than the negatives that's for sure and without doubt I believe it was a week I have grown from as a professional golfer. I implemented some changes this week, in a number of areas and really only saw those changes as positive and areas to continue to work on and improve in. I believe it was the best I have prepared for an event ever, despite being a little underdone due to the two and a half week sickness leading in. I may not quite be up to the ball striking standard I now expect from my game but I like the fact that despite not having my A game with me this week in Perth, my B game was enough to make the weekend and get 4 competitive days under my belt after a slow start to the season. A big part of that was the preparation for this specific course in my lead up and during the week which allowed my game to "get by"
It will certainly be back to the range for some fine tuning with my irons and wedge game, normally my strengths, as this was the main problem for me this week. My driving of the ball was awesome this week with the Taylormade M1 having a week to remember for me in the bag. It was great to meet up with the tour guys for Taylormade this week and I look forward to trying out a couple of new weapons in the coming week. Actually I am about to head home on the red eye straight to the Performance Lab in Brisbane to fit out for the new irons to complete the bag.
It is exciting to be taking my journey to the next level, in my approach, my work ethic, my discipline and my mental game and today a massive part of the learning phase was going out on course and walking around watching Louis Oosthuizen play the final 9 holes and close out for victory. Normally once an event is done, so am I but today I just knew there was some learning to be done. It may well prove to be an extremely valuable 2 hrs of my life and many notes were taken and have already been discussed with one of my coaches. What I know now and apply to my game will only make me a better player. I don't think I have ever been more motivated, driven or fired up to improve and grow my skill level in this game. It is exciting to feel this way and want to work hard at improving every aspect of my game. It's back to work in a few hours time, and I can't wait!!
