Arriving in Perth and heading to what I consider one of the finest courses in Australia for the week, Lake Karrinyup, is probably not what I should consider work, but at the end of the day that's what it is. It is however one of the more pleasurable weeks of work for the year that's for sure. The club opens its doors for us and lays out the green carpet......the fairways are like carpet....the course is magnificent, the natural Australian beauty is at large with kangaroos, kookaburras, our native trees and of course plenty of Aussies floating around too!
This week there are a few other nationalities here too, with the event being tri-sanctioned with Europe and Asian tours. It makes for an amazing driving range, putting green and players lounge, to listen to all the different languages is quite incredible. This week despite not being able to necessarily communicate by tongue it is awesome to see the language of golf bring us all together. We are all trying to move that little white ball around the course and the effort required to master this sport is enormous no matter what country we are from or language we speak.
This week I have adopted a new approach to my week and the initial feedback from how things are feeling is great. I continue to work with my team of coaches and 2016 is going to be a year of doing things a little or a lot differently. After a solid 2015 you may be wondering why the need for change. Well the reason is that I am ranked somewhere near 700 in the world. I don't see the point in doing things the same and expect to make the leaps I want too. I am going out on a limb and taking some different approaches this year. As the year unravels I will share a little of that journey with you, for now all you need to know is that my approach this week has been different, and it feels good. Whether that brings immediate results this week, only time will tell, but I can definitely see some real positives already and look forward to continuing to add more and more.
I have also had a great week with the Taylormade crew. They were on site so it was great to reacquaint myself with them and start the ball rolling on what I hope will be a long and successful partnership. It is a fantastic group of guys on their staff and I also played 9 holes with Marcus Fraser, a TM professional who was a last start winner on the European Tour. He was very positive about the brand and their equipment and I guess that reassured me of my decision to join the brand. Onwards and upwards from here!!
I am looking forward to your support this year too and I hope to bring some more awesome news, awesome opportunities and also hopefully some fresh updated website technology too. Thanks already for your love and support and I hope I can bring you some joy and some great thoughts to ponder on and adopt into your own life as the year goes on.
