My day was a good one I am happy to report. It started at 6:45am in the morning here in Queenstown where it is still pitch black at that time of day. I have never been on the range hitting balls warming up for a morning tee time where I have had to do it under flood lights in around 6 degrees!! Wow what an experience.
When play began a little late due to the light I started really well playing the first two holes faultlessly but without making the putts for birdies. I then played a great third hole but also missed the birdie but then missed the par putt back. Frustrating but my game this week has all been about patience and working on my "post shot" routine, dealing with my reactions to every shot. I have to say it has been brilliant and after making no birdie putts for the rest of the front nine and throwing in 2 more bogies, I turned 3 over for the day and 3 over for the tournament leaving some work to do on the back nine if I was going to play on the weekend.
I was playing well so just focusing on making each shot my priority was all I wanted to do for the back nine. I did that really well and managed to hit some quality shots and shot 4 under around the back nine. It could have been anything though with lip outs on 10, 13, 15, a lip out for eagle on 17 and a very near miss on the 18th, the 14th was the only hole I didn't scare the hole with even though I was on the green putting for birdie. Good signs for tomorrow though. I am looking forward to getting out there and having a great time on the weekend. Today was capped off with a great ride on the Shotover Jetboat, great fun in a rally car on water!! The scenery was absolutely awesome, breathtaking. Great day, see you tomorrow
