What great weather has greeted us on the Gold Coast this week. It wasn't too long ago that the course was almost under water here at Royal Pines but fortunately we have been blessed this week to turn up to a course in pretty good shape. Obviously it isn't perfect after the rain but the course staff have done a great job to get it up and ready for play.
After a good week last week in Toowoomba working on my game at the Qld PGA I have arrived here somewhat optimistic about my game. I left you last week after round one in Toowoomba where I had shot 1 over going into round 2. The second round I played solid in fairly ordinary conditions of rain and wind. I managed to get it around in 1 under to be on even par for the tournament. Unfortunately the cut was -1 and I was left to rue a missed put on the 36th hole leaving it short in the heart by 1 inch for birdie!! That is the game we play though and very quickly I shifted my focus and attention to this week. Time with the new coach Kevin is going really well and I am continued to be excited about my future in this game as I feel as though I am just scratching the surface and there is so much improvement ahead of me. Kevin is making some significant changes but he is huge on process, routine and post shot reactions and that is enabling me to be making the changes and still playing events. I am still not 100% sure where the ball is going to go but I am really enjoying not worrying about that and just taking care of the processes. Round 1 yesterday here at Royal Pines was a morning round for me and I managed to get most things right. I had 4 birdies and no bogies for a 4 under par 68. It was a very solid day and my processes and procedures were excellent. I didn't really hit the ball exceedingly close to the hole, just managed a few good chip shots on par fives and 2 good wedge shots to close range. I am looking forward to today and getting out there and hopefully taking care of the processes again. I am looking for 1% improvement in all areas every day!! On the fitness and riding front I had a great 30km ride after yesterdays round only to break my chain halfway into it. After a kilometre walk and search for a bike shop, $100 later I had a new chain and was back out on the bike. I am loving my bike training and Kevin is excited too at the prospect of building a stronger base and core. Catch you later for an update on todays round and most importan
