I have much to tell about the last few weeks, the MORAD golf school was awesome and I truly believe I am and will be a far better golfer for being at that long and tiring 5 days learning from a true golfing mind Mac O'Grady. The most awesome thing I got out of the 5 days amongst a host of brilliant learning was that I have truly had my love of playing golf reignited!! I have never enjoyed playing the game as much as I have right now and I am hoping that will translate into some quality golf this year.
I am truly so excited to be playing back up here in Japan and it has been a really pleasant change to actually know the golf course before I arrived here this week. The beauty of the tour up here is that they play a lot of repeat golf courses each year meaning that I have certainly played a few of them. Not having to learn a golf course from scratch in one practice round is a luxury that I am planning on taking advantage of to start my season strong.
The course at Token this week is in very decent condition for this time of the year up here in Japan. They have had some very warm weather which has helped the growth coming out of winter where the courses all go dormant due to the cold. The greens are a little more receptive than usual for here and not at the break neck speed they usually are either. It is the sort of golf course that requires your attention on every hole with true tests off the tee, with second shots getting onto the right part of the green and then precision putting. All in all a good result here this week has been well earned. My practice has gone pretty well with each day being a little better than the day before and today I played a really solid 9 holes this morning before finishing my preparation with some quality putting and chipping. I am looking forward to a solid start to my season up here and getting into a good position before the first re ranking of Q school players in a few weeks time.
The JGTO website is of course where you can follow along with the scores but finding me isn't that easy as the names are all in Japanese. Look for an M followed by Japanese symbols. I am off at 11:40 tomorrow so hopefully that will help in finding me. I look forward to updating you on my first round tomorrow night. The website is www.jgto.org
