I am here playing a Challenge event this week and I have to say that my expectations are quite reserved this week after spending the last few weeks as sick as I have been for many many years. I somehow contracted the Influenza B virus and it smashed me for six!! I am pretty fatigued and the walk around this really hilly course will be the biggest test of the week for me.
It is a nice course with some great views and pretty cool holes. The pick of the bunch is the ninth hole which is downhill over some out of bounds to a very narrow fairway sitting sideways at you with bunkers and more out of bounds through the fairway!! Incredible accuracy required!! As per usual in Japan the greens are the big factor. They are particularly big this week but hard and fast and have big slopes from front to back mostly. Some of them are so severe that you are better off hitting your ball off the green short and chipping on than risk going long of the pin. A really good test.
As a Challenge event it is only 2 rounds with a 1 round cut, so I had better serve up some quality tomorrow or else I will be heading home early. I feel as thought the course sets up ok for me so despite my health issues I am feeling ok about it heading into tomorrow. Enjoy the photos and if you want to check the results go to the JGTO website or check back in here for a look tomorrow!!
