I am currently in Thailand in Bangkok playing in the Thailand Open. It is my first trip to Thailand and I have to say it has been an eye opening one. I have seen things I have never seen before and some of those things I hope I never see again.
It is a crazy place and like a few of the Asian countries I have been to there seems to be no road rules and no thought of self preservation either. Parents taking kids on motorbikes with no helmets, most people wearing no helmets, the took-took brigade which is a three wheeled taxi with no doors, just a seat and a roof. They weave all over the place, wrong side of the road, in between cars.. It is definitely the best and fastest way to get around if there is traffic but very dangerous too. I took a trip yesterday in one and certainly was a happy man to get out of it safely at my destination. Today on the way home from the course we unfortunately saw two motorbikes that had been hit by a bus and the 4 people were lying motionless on the road and by the reaction of the people around standing by, quite possibly not alive. It was a sickening thing to see but unfortunately probably a common thing up here where they place such little value on safety on the roads. I was saddened to think of their families tonight. On the golf front, and it seems like my day was insignificant now in relation to that incident so my debrief is going to be very short tonight and I may elaborate tomorrow a little more. Bottom line is that I shot 1 under which I thought was ok given that I started with a double bogie on my first hole followed by a bogie down the 2nd. Not the start I was looking for given that I was using a short putter for the first time in a tournament for about 10yrs. Anyway somehow the putter stood up even though my game didn't really. I have ligament damage in my right hand at the base of my little finger. The physio told me it would just be painful but that she thought I wouldn't be able to make it any worse. I feel like it is hindering me with driver as I am not game to hit through and release the club head. Tomorrow is another
