My day was an interesting one, I started slowly and not really playing too well. After a bogie at 2 and then another at the 5th I was 2 over through 5 holes. In contrast the guy playing with me had started birdie, birdie, birdie, eagle, birdie to be 6 under through 5 holes. Wow, we started the day tied at 2 under and now I was even and he was 8 under, all in the space of an hour!! After my drive down the 6th found the rough I found myself in a bad mood and not enjoying the day at all. I felt like I was playing like rubbish and was really struggling. After hitting a poor second shot that went on the green anyway I gave myself a gob full. I was negative and very unhappy. The work I have been doing with Kev thankfully kicked in there as I walked to the green. I two putted and told Brent my caddy that it was silent time and that if I spoke about anything other than the distance or club or putt that I had he was to punch me in the arm. I didn't like what sort of chat I was making so figured it was time not to speak. It worked. I made par on the 7th and then played two perfect holes to make 2 birdies on 8 and 9.
My back nine was very solid but it only resulted in 1 bogie and 1 birdie for even par. That meant even par for the day which in the wind was very satisfying. I thought I maybe would have lost some serious ground to the field but as it turns out I went from tied 21st to tied 22nd. I am really looking forward to tomorrow and hoping for a Wollongong style finish....8 under would be nice!! A good solid finish tomorrow and shooting under par should see me hopefully move forward in the field. I am going to be aggressive tomorrow, it is my day to shine on our last day here in Korea!! I look forward to writing a positive blog tomorrow afternoon!!
For the record, in the battle against the impressive KJ Choi, I am now 1 shot behind. He shot an impressive 3 under par today to take a small lead. Being the world class player he is, he will take some chasing down tomorrow but I reckon I have it in me and that he needs to be beaten by Matt Guyatt.....at least once in his career!! Here's a photo of KJ putting pre round in the same area as the mighty Matty G!!
