The back nine also started well with a good chance at the 10th and a outside chance at 11 before I finally made a putt at the 12th for birdie. Ok so 5 over total with 6 to play thinking I would need at least 3 birdies. I felt like I was hitting the ball well and the chances would come. I hit a great putt on 13 only to see it slide by and then a 90 degree lip out on 14 for par all but sealed the fate. After bogie on 15 it meant it was all over and so I found myself in that disappointing position of having to finish out the last 3 holes with no chance of making the cut. So in preparation for next week I worked on a couple of shapes off the tee and so hopefully will hit the ground running next week.
I head to Jeju island off the coast of Sth Korea hopefully tomorrow so that I can get an extra practice round in before the tournament kicks off on Thursday. I think that will be beneficial for my week as one practice round is always difficult to learn the course in. My caddy went well and we look forward to the new event where hopefully that combination will be better too. We didn't' get the clubs wrong too many times and our feel for line on the greens will only get better now that he has seen me putt in tournament conditions.
Lots of positives out of this week. My driving of the ball was probably the highlight with the boys at Golf Club Innovations at Indooroopilly GC doing a great job fitting me and getting the right shaft into the driver. In saying that my driving stats weren't perfect and I still missed a few of fairways each round but they were by the absolute smallest of margins. I didn't hit one "wide" this whole tournament which is a very good feeling. Plenty of confidence to be gained there. Apparently the practice facilities at the next venue are a little better too and so am looking forward to getting there and practicing hard for the week ahead.
I will try and give a report on the new course on Monday or Tuesday so look out for that and the photos that go along with it. For those of you who read this blog earlier in the week and saw the video of my putt on the 9th green, look below at the video of the putt I had yesterday in the tournament on the 18th!! Very similar and just gives you an idea on tournament conditions and the speed of greens we play on over here. I know there would be a member outcry if they were having to putt like this at Indooroopilly every comp day!!! The putt was only 8 foot long but just watch how far it actually travels. I apologise for the video as I simply filmed it off the camera it was taken on...Enjoy!!
Excitingly for me I also had a chat yesterday with a guy about setting up a Tour Fellowship night here on the One Asia Tour. I went to one of those nights when I was in the States at the Masters last year when Badds invited me along. It is simply about the Christians that are on tour getting together each week chatting about life and God. As a committed Christian I am excited about this as often tour life is a little lacking so looking forward to adding some substance to it.
