The weather was perfect yet again for us today on the start of the tournament. I was playing early so it was nice to be out and beat a little of the heat.
I played really nicely today for the exception of two shots, a poor club choice on the par 5 14th for my second shot from the rough resulted in the rough turning the face left and sending my ball that way into a hazard. I was left with not much of a shot after that and played safe only to end up seeing my bogey putt lip out.
I drove the green on the 15th and after narrowly missing the eagle putt, tapped in for birdie. Unfortunately this is where my second poor choice of clubs and shot cost me again. I found the water off the tee and another double bogey the result. After a rough lie just off the green on 17 and a bogey there my finish of a double then bogey had the writing on the wall for my day.
Sometimes it's a tough sport, I played very solidly for 16 holes only to have my two poor shots cost me 4 shots and a 3 over par day.
As frustrated as I was signing my card the good news was that the official from the PGA then asked me if I would teach a clinic for 45 minutes for the Schweppes sponsors!! It was the last thing I wanted to do but of course I said yes!! Most of them had never held a club before but the really enjoyed it, despite my lack of French and their lack of English! Hopefully that good deed will reap some rewards on the course today.
My game plan today is simple, "see it, feel it, trust it and deal with the outcomes" if I can do this well for 18 holes on every shot then I should have a great day.
Enjoy your day everyone!!
