Finally the tour is about to start. It seems like an eternity ago that I finished q school in December last year to get my card again. I have been patiently waiting and sometimes impatiently waiting!!
The good news is that it is about to begin at least. I have had a solid start to the year with a decent result in NZ but it is here in Japan that I am looking to really perform this year.
I have been lucky enough to spend some of the off season with a few footballers both from league and AFL. Spending some time with those guys it has been interesting to watch their journey through their off season into the season proper. What I really have noticed is how all the planning and preparation sometimes doesn't equate to results that you are looking for. That is something I guess you need to be prepared for as a professional athlete. There is always human error involved in sport and I no doubt will not be immune to that. That said I have prepared well, am playing well and very positive about this week ahead. What I am saying is that all my eggs are not in the one basket. I am prepared for the long season ahead, have my goals and am working towards the master plan.
This week has been an unusual week in that it has been raining non stop since we arrived. The course that we normally play here is firm and fast but this year it sees us playing a very very wet golf course that is all carry and will certainly suit the longer hitters. My practice on course has been very good and with my improved ability to work the ball right to left I have found the course a lot easier than previous years.
I worked very hard after the Qld PGA at my ability to hit that shape and it has now become a real weapon and will open up loads more opportunities for me to attack. I plan on having a red hot crack this year up here and will adopt my "no fear no steer" attitude from last years q school. I am going to enjoy myself on tour this year and look forward to some great performances.
Here's some photos from the week so far!!
