I have learnt so much about links golf in my time in Scotland and although it can be brutally unfair when the ball bounces sideways from the middle of the fairway to be dead in a bunker or kick into the heather, it is an absolute hoot to play.
For two days I was on the wrong side of the bounces although yesterday I deserved everything I got as I really struggled to do much right. Today, strangely I played so much better yet scored worse....and that is the story of links golf.
I have missed the cut this week but have learnt so much and the development as a player from my time in Scotland is very exciting. I can't wait to play "Aussie" golf again where the ball actually stops on the green with a wedge!!
Before I return though I am off to play Turnberry, the site of one of Greg Normans British Open victories and Western Gailes which I'm looking forward to given I learnt to play at Gailes Golf club in Brissy!!
