This was a first, a dog raincoat!!! Well the rain came on the morning of the practice round yesterday which wasn't pleasant. It was about 8-10 degrees and raining when we teed off, not real fun. So for all of you out there who think I am living the dream, this was more of a torture test!!
It had to be done though and so we battled the elements until the rain eased after 9 holes and the sun came out mid way through the back nine. My game yesterday was a little like the weather, cold early then started to improve as the day went on. I struggled playing without the warm up as it was hosing down and there were no balls hit before play. My timing and rhythm was out a little so I was struggling to hit too many quality shots in a row. Fortunately it was only a practice day and all about learning the course. That I did and I still feel good about the course. It is tough, very tough if you miss a fairway as the rough is severe to say the least. Fairway bunkers are a much better option to be in if you miss a fairway. I hit balls after the round and then again this morning. It was nice to get back into rhythm again and be hitting the ball really nicely again. A couple of hours putting yesterday and another couple today has me feeling really good over the putter so now it is just a matter of going out there to "make putts!" I am putting great from inside 5 feet so I am just going to go and have a crack tomorrow knowing I am good for the second putt. It is a slight mental shift to what I have been doing, so looking forward to the results tomorrow. I am playing in the first group tomorrow which may be a blessing. The weather forecast is not good for the rest of the week but hopefully I will get the morning round in before the weather hits. I am really looking forward to playing, I feel great physically and mentally and am ready to give it my best. Let's see how that stacks up tomorrow. Until then, GO QLD tonight in Origin 1, do me proud boys and notch a first up win in the series. I think I will be watching it here at a pub, somewhere down the road so fingers

Hope you have a clear, sunny morning tomorrow Matt, that all your putts are little ones and they go straight in the hole. Looking forward to following the next four days. Our love and prayers will be with you. Queenslander!!
